Braeside High School Newsletter - Week 3

18th September 2021

Dear Parent/Guardian,

Greetings and welcome to our 3rd weekly newsletter this term. It is my hope and prayer that you are all well and keeping safe.

Our students have now settled down and are enjoying every bit of being at school. Just like everyone else, they had a lot of anxiety in the first week of school. It is my joy to report that this anxiety has slowly and steadily transformed into self-assuredness and confidence in their school system’s safety procedures.

Teachers are glad that most of our students adhere to Covid 19 regulations without the need to be supervised. We encourage our parents to continuously remind their children about the need to always stay safe.

Student Council Elections

The first weeks of each academic year are always marked with campaigns and elections at various levels. Being the time when new leadership teams are instituted, all students are taken through PSHE lessons on leadership. It is interesting to see many of our learners mount up campaigns to try and convince their colleagues of what they can do best for the benefit of the entire students’ body. The students’ voice has always been the student council. Through it, we have had suggestions that have informed the priority projects undertaken and have gone a long way in changing the face of the school.

This is what some of the students had to say;

‘‘My experience was great. People encouraged us that they will make the school a better place. The voting was fair and gender equal. I look forward to seeing the representatives working hard for a better school.’’ Sarah K. Year 8N

‘‘Voting for class representatives was easy and quick. I enjoyed the voting. I know the people voted for will be good leaders.’’Leon M. Year 7N

‘‘My experience in voting was good. The students who were campaigning did an amazing and fantastic job on their speeches. It was very nice to have most of my friends campaign. It was very hard to pick one person to be a class representative since they are all good. Overall, voting was the best!’’ Joy O. Year 7S

‘‘My experience was very nice. I really enjoyed it. I expect that the leader in Middle School can help us achieve new things.’’ Samira D. Year 7N

‘‘My voting experience was good and challenging because I had to choose who can be a leader and not always choosing my friends.’’ Emmanuel M. Year 7S

Have a nice weekend.

Regards,

Mr. Joel Ndungu
