Braeside High School Week 11 Newsletter

21st November 2020

Dear Parent/Guardian,

We have come to the end of yet another fantastic week at Braeside school. It is such a delight to see the successful blend of RTL and physical school. A big thank you to Braestars who have been actively engaging in school activities.

United Against Bullying

This year more than ever, most of us have witnessed the positive power that society can have when we come together against a common challenge. This week the world was celebrating Anti bullying week and Braeside was no exception. The students were engaged in activities, lessons and presentations that were geared towards sensitization on bullying and its impact on human beings. The week was marked with a celebration of odd socks day where students and members of staff wore mismatched or odd pairs of socks in solidarity with the victims of bullying.

Students Speak!

‘‘To me, bullying is putting down others because of one's insecurities. I learnt that as long as you witness the bullying without taking proper action, you are part of the problem. The effects of bullying can last for a long time if left unaddressed.’’ Ava M. Year 9N

‘‘Courage is fire, bullying is smoke. Do something to someone that your future self will thank you for, be a compassionate person.’’ Sarah K. Year 7N

‘‘Strong people stand up for themselves but strongest people Stand up for others! Do not be a bystander, speak out for others!’’ Robby C. Year 7K

‘‘Cyber bullies can hide behind a mask of anonymity online and do not need direct physical access to their victims to do unimaginable harm. Unmask them!’’ David H. Year 8S

‘‘Bullying is something that makes people from all ages, harm, hurt or even kill themselves. It is not funny to watch someone, or even bully someone yourself. It may seem funny and it won’t really do anything to you or your friends. Let’s unite together and make an end to this.’’ #MakeAnEndToBullying! Lily M. Year 7N

‘‘I have learnt not to be a bystander to bullying and when I see someone getting bullied I help them and tell an adult or someone older. I have also learnt that bullying can have a big impact on someone’s life.’’ Eliud K. Year 9C
