16th December 2020
Dear Parent/Guardian,
As this calendar year 2020 draws to a close, we have also come to the End of Term 1 of 2020/21 Academic year.
I want to sincerely thank each one of you; mostly for choosing Braeside, for trusting us with your child’s education and for the support you have given to us as a school. I also want to thank every child for their resilience. We treasure the memories and learning that we have shared over the term and especially during the entire period of Covid-19 school closure. We can’t always be the best, but we always do our best and indeed we put our best foot forward throughout the entire period of school closure.
Re-opening of School in January
Our school gates will open to all our Braestars from the 5th of January 2020 in this order:
DATES | UPPER SCHOOL | MIDDLE SCHOOL |
---|---|---|
Tuesday, 5th January 2021 | Year 12/13 | Year 7 |
Wednesday, 6th January 2021 | Year 11 | ----- |
Thursday, 7th January 2021 | Year 10 | Year 9 |
Friday, 8th January 2021 | ------ | Year 8 |
Please note the following:
Once a year group reports to school, they will be expected to continue coming to school daily. Meanwhile, the other classes will continue with RTL until their day of reporting to school.
We are doing this phased reopening during the first week to allow staff to train our students on how to observe the health and hygiene protocols while in school.
Reports
End of term reports will be published through the parent’s portal by the end of this week. Kindly go through the report with your child and have an honest conversation about the areas they have done well and where they need to improve in the coming term.
School Uniform and Grooming
As we go through the holiday, please remember to check if your child has the correct and fitting school uniform and PE kit ready for January. I wish to emphasize on proper grooming as they report back to school; some might have forgotten about our school code of conduct, please remind them of the expectations. We wish to see well-groomed and very smartly dressed Braestars when we open school.
Christmas Fill-a-Bucket
A big thank you to our Braestars for going out of their way to put a smile on the faces of the less fortunate in the society by donating foodstuff.
All the donations were presented to Kabiro children home in Kawangware. Thank you to the interact club for the initiative and for coordinating the entire process.
Change of Leadership
This term, unfortunately, we had to say goodbye to one of our Deputy Heads, Mr. Henry Oboo. We wish him well as he transitions. I am happy to report that we got a very able replacement, Mr. Wellington Andati, who until his appointment to the role of Deputy Head Teacher Academics was the Middle School Coordinator.
The Middle School Coordinator has been filled by Ms. Esther Mokaya. Join me in welcoming and congratulating Mr. Andati and Ms. Mokaya as they transition into their new roles.
We also appointed a new Biology/Chemistry teacher, Mr. Hesborn Nyarotso.
I am proud of all the Braestars who have engaged with their learning positively on RTL and those who joined school physically for face to face lessons with their teachers.
Finally, I can never tire of thanking you parents/guardians for your patience and support for the past 8 months. Your understanding, especially during the start of our RTL and the physical resumption of physical classes has meant a lot to us.
Thank you for your willingness and commitment to working in partnership with us during the entire lockdown period.
I am excited about all our Braestars coming back to school in January 2021. If you or your child
experiences any anxieties regarding the coming term, please get in touch. We are here to help and support everyone in our school community.
I take this chance to wish you and your families a very relaxing and enjoyable break.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2021.
Mr. Wallen Nyamota
Headteacher
