Braeside High School Week 5 Newsletter

9th October 2020

Dear Parent/Guardian,

No written word, no spoken plea can teach our youth what they should be.

Nor all the words on all the shelves, it’s what the teachers are themselves.

- John Wooden -

This week, the world marked World Teachers’ Day on Monday, 5th October 2020 and the theme was “Teachers: Leading in crisis, reimagining the future”. In the face of the covid-19 pandemic, this theme is an accurate reflection of the resilience exhibited by teachers around the world. At Braeside, students spent the day appreciating their teachers and this is what some had to say:

Teachers proudly stand in front of the class,

With knowledge and influence,

Igniting a flame in curious minds

Proficiently as the lessons unwind.

Teaching, a calling that burns deep inside

To instruct thirsty, inquisitive minds.

Installing passion that leads to success.

Inspiring pupils to give their best.

Encouraging scholars' creative gifts,

Praising, applauding and encouraging.

Those who are taught well, live well; get ahead.

Blessed are the teachers, it must be said.

It does not go unnoticed, the work involved

Developing great people to evolve.

All humble, nurturing teachers out there,

Thank you all for your compassionate care.

Those who go on to find their hopes and dreams,

Remember the teachers who cast the beams.

Happy Teachers' Day

If there were no teachers

all other professions would not exist.

By Daniel M. Year 7S

Eyes brown like dark chocolate,

You never let our hearts deflate,

Voice sweet and kind but it’s always,

Energetic every time you complement our plays.

Hair soft and curly,

I would give it a million out of thirty,

Forever smiling in class,

Which is as shiny as glass.

Fun and interesting,

Very trusting,

Calm and Peaceful,

Lessons are graceful.

Always a class to remember,

As beautiful as amber,

Thank you for being such a great teacher,

You’ve always been a graceful teacher.

By Joe M. Year 9K

Thank you teachers,

for reaching deep inside us,

to find all we can be,

before we can even see it ourselves.

Thank you for your patience,

and all your help.

We know teaching is not easy,

but you have all tried your best as teachers,

to make learning easier.

As students, we have a future because of you.

Thank you!
