30th January 2021
Dear Parent/Guardian,
Greetings and welcome to our 4th weekly newsletter this term. It is my hope and prayer that you are all well and keeping safe. The term is nearing the halfway mark, with the academic program getting intense. Teaching and assessment have been ongoing and teachers are preparing to report on the learners’ progress.
Our students have now settled down and are enjoying every bit of being at school. Just like everyone else, they had a lot of anxiety at the beginning of term. It is my joy to observe and report to our parents that this anxiety has slowly but steadily transformed into self-assuredness and confidence in their school system’s safety procedures.
Teachers are glad that most of our students adhere to Covid 19 regulations without the need to be supervised. We encourage our parents to continuously remind their children about the need to always stay safe.
As a school, we have listened to you as our valued partners at every stage, especially during these challenging times of Covid. We do value your contributions, suggestions for improving and any other constructive criticism.
I would like to remind parents to our candidate classes to remind these learners to continue preparing in earnest for their examinations.
Inter-House Debate Challenge
We are pleased to report that the middle school held its first round of the Annual Inter-House Debate Challenge on Monday, 25th. The topic in question was "That Vaccinations should be made compulsory." This very sensitive and current question of global concern got our ardent debaters thinking critically and presenting their arguments very persuasively. A very competitive task it was!
We applaud the teams for their active participation, research skills and engagement. The debaters did an excellent job and our audience were not left behind as they asked thought provoking and perceptive questions. Congratulations to Simba and Nyati House who won against Kifaru and Chui House respectively. The final round will be held in week six where Simba and Nyati will fight out for the first position. We wish the teams the very best as they prepare to take on this challenge.
School Experience by students
The school has been able to create a comfortable and safe learning environment. While being in school for almost half a term, the school has made a concerted effort to prevent any possibility of the virus spreading. It is clear that despite the pandemic, Braeside has remained an amazing school. My initial fears of returning to school have vanished. Moses O. Year 13R
Coming back to school has been sensational; being able to indulge with face-to-face learning with my peers and teachers as well as getting some time off the screen. When I come to school, I feel reassured as there are meticulous measures put in place that still make it possible to learn and enjoy every moment of it. Justine K. Year 11N
Have a nice weekend.
Regards,
Mr. Bernard Wandabwa
