Braeside Lavington Shines at the Hillcrest Inter-schools Invitational Chess Tournament

A group of eight Braestars proudly represented Braeside Lavington at the Hillcrest Inter‑Schools Invitational Chess Tournament 2026, which took place on Friday, 13th March 2026, competing against senior players in categories above their age group and excelling. Demonstrating outstanding strategy, focus and resilience, the team secured 3rd place overall.

Individual achievements were particularly impressive as indicated below:

  • Blessing E. aged 9: placed No. 1 in the Under-15 Girls category
  • Linsky O. aged 9: placed No. 1 in the Under-17 Boys category
  • Gisele M. aged 10: placed No. 1 in the Under-17 Girls category

Competing at such a high level helped the learners develop critical thinking, strategic planning, concentration, sportsmanship and confidence. We are incredibly proud of these Braestars for representing the school with determination and excellence.
