Mother Tongue Day

15th May 2023

With a theme My Language, My Pride, Braeside for the first time celebrated mother languages during Mother Language Day on Friday, 12th May 2023, two days before the International Mother’s Day.

The school joined UNESCo in its call for promotion of multilingualism in schools with the objective of preserving linguistic diversity. Indeed, multilingualism contributes to the development of inclusive societies that allow multiple cultures, worldviews and knowledge systems to coexist. This was an opportunity to sensitise Braestars on the critical part their mother languages play to enable them thrive as Global Citizens.

Each year group had a presentation during whole school assembly and it was amazing to see Braestars embrace their mother languages confidently and with pride.
