Dear Parent/Guardian,
We have made it to the end of week 11, which means the students have completed the end of year examinations and regular lessons have resumed. The students had a diverse range of experiences and future expectations. This was stated by a handful of them.
Students Comments
"Have you ever felt like giving up even though the finish line is this close? Well, this is how the whole examinations week was. I would usually ask myself what would happen if I forgot the things I have learnt during the exam. Those are the negative thoughts I tried fighting inside my head. During the examinations, I thought of the outcome to keep me pushing through and everyone who had helped me come this far. It was a race against time, endless hours of studying, a rollercoaster of emotions and iron-built resilience. The examinations have ended but this does not mean learning has ended. This means that year 7 has ended but year 8 is just beginning." Letesia A. Year 7N
"Exams, exams, exams. Exams ended on 30th June. The week/period was good. We were allowed an hour before some exams to study. These were the last exams in the year. I don’t miss waking up early to revise, to memorise the materials/ topics given. Now we are waiting for the results and hoping all of us passed the tests." Neema M. Year 7S
"During the exams period, I would wake up early to go to school and study, then we would have exams but I am happy we had some breaks. After a long day of exams, I would go home and study some more till dinner time. It was stressful and hard but it’s over now and I can resume my lessons." Rhea D. Year 7S
"Having finished the main stream exams, I am excited to show off my hard work, determination and skills on the ball. I am joyful and grateful that I will have the opportunity to play with my peers and school mates in under 15 against other Braeburn Schools as well as other challenging schools. I am happy that my coaches have mentored and supported me through my football and sports journey. I hope to continue developing and growing. Since under 15 is more physical, better and faster, I plan to improve on the areas my friends and coaches have pointed out." Nathan M. Year 8K
"If am being very honest, these exams have been very draining and have put lots of pressure on us which I am grateful for. To some extent, I have managed to identify areas I am not too confident in and will work on them before we get back from summer." Chantal M. Year 10K
"The exams were both stressful and tiring. The fact that we sat the examinations in the hall added more pressure on us. However, these exams showed me how crucial frequent revision is. I am grateful to have finished. It was a well needed learning experience." Sarah-Jane M. Year 10K
"During the exam week, we were able to try a variety of different activities. We had hours of revision, two hour exams; a taste of what we will experience for the mocks and IGCSEs. We have matured as a year group and acclimatised to the candidate lifestyle. While it was exhausting, we have realized the importance of these exams and what they will enable us to achieve in the future. We have also witnessed what our teachers do and recognise how much they have aided us along the way. We are currently waiting for our grades and will continue to study and do our best as we finish the syllabus." Nataly M. Year 10S
"This time, the exams were an interesting experience. I say this due to the setting and how long it took. I felt as though I was an actual IGCSE candidate but it was only end of year. I would say it required more seriousness this time. Otherwise, it was not bad at all." Eugene O. Year 10K
Finally, as we head into the final week of the school year, we are reminded to keep ourselves and others safe by avoiding large gatherings and adhering to other Covid-19 protocols.
Have a good weekend.
Regards,
Mr. Benson Maina
