28th May 2021
We have come to the end of the first part of the term. Certainly, the children have had memorable experiences and learnt a lot. This week, we marked our annual Science week. The theme for the week was ‘Innovation for the future’. We investigated, experimented, predicted and concluded on the concept of floating and sinking. We believe the children enjoyed the activity and will continue to explore more.
YEAR 2 READ-A-THON COMMUNITY CARER PROJECT
The Year 2 Read-A-Thon community carer project will take place from 28th May to 4th June 2021 and the proceeds will go to appreciating our nannies and drivers. This is in line with our term’s target #communitycarer (Put a Smile on Someone's Face).
INFORMATION
What is a Read-A-Thon? It is a fun and rewarding reading cycle that fosters positive reading habits, promotes literacy and boosts confidence in reading.
Why is this Read-A-Thon important? It is a win-win for our Braestars. The program and its activities will motivate them to read more and achieve their reading goals, while raising money that will aid in giving back to the community. Fundraising: Braestars will log their reading time during the marathon of reading and earn some money by reading to an adult. During this time, they will record the material they have read e.g. book, title and all minutes read at home.
Please note that 100% of the funds collected will remain with the Braestars. The target for each Braestar is Ksh. 1000/-
Appreciation Gifts: Using the money raised, Braestars will purchase gifts which they will use to appreciate their nannies and drivers.
Pictures: Please capture the moments of your child purchasing and appreciating individual nannies and drivers. Remember to upload them on Google Classroom.
Read-A-Thon log. Kindly submit the final reading log to your child's class teacher by 7th June 2021.
