Year 2 Week 6 Newsletter:Term 2

13th February 2021

Dear Parent/Guardian,

We have come to the end of the first half of the term. Certainly, the children have had memorable experiences and have learnt a lot.

READING

This term, we are targeting comprehension skills in our reading. It is vital that your child be able to discuss the main ideas in a story. We have been assigning readers on google classroom. Please continue to encourage your child to read aloud every day by:

  1. Predicting – What might the story be about.
  2. Clarifying – understanding the meaning of new or tricky words.
  3. Questioning – devising a question about the story based on their reading.
  4. Summarising – retelling the story with detail and in sequence.

HOMEWORK

During this break, we have assigned some revision bits to work on. Kindly help your child complete the revision work and as much as possible, give your child a chance to think through the questions before giving your input.

We wish you a restful half term break.
