Year 5 Week 8 Newsletter:Term 2

Dear Parent/Guardian,

Greetings and we trust that you are doing well. The children have settled in and are working well for this last half of the term. We wish to let you know that they will sit for their end of term tests in all examinable subjects from Monday, 15th – Friday, 19th March 2021. Pupils will also be expected to bring laptops to school twice a week- the day they have computing and every Thursday for research work.

Humanities projects

Instructions

Year 5 pupils are expected to carry out a project as part of their assessment in Humanities. The project work will earn 20% of end of term Humanities test. We would like to give them an opportunity to practise the skill of using different sources of information to collect and present data. It is due on Tuesday, 16th March 2021.

They will be expected to find out about any of the following areas;

• Tourist attractions in Mombasa.
• The positive and negative impact of tourism in Mombasa.
• The things that discourage tourists from visiting Mombasa.
• The historical sites in Mombasa and how they developed.
• The way of life of communities who come from Mombasa.
• The coastal landforms and how they were formed.
• Negative impact of coastal erosion on seaside towns.
• Ways in which coasts are managed and protected.

The students will be expected to use photos to illustrate their work.
